A bill to give immunity to members of the legislature in Nigeria in Abuja on Thursday passed its second reading at the House of Representatives. The bill seeks to amend Section 4(8) of the 1999 Constitution as amended by providing immunity for members of both Federal and State legislatures in respect of the words spoken or written at plenary sessions and committees proceedings.

Drug-Addicted Doctor Bags 14-Yrs Imprisonment For Infecting 55 With Hepatitis

A drug-addicted Australian doctor who pleaded guilty to negligently infecting 55 patients with hepatitis C at a Melbourne birth control clinic was sentenced on Thursday to 14 years imprisonment. The court was told anesthetist James Peters, 63, would inject himself with the drug fentanyl, a narcotic pain reliever and tranquillizer, before using the same syringe to administer the drug to his patients.
