Building Collapse in Ibadan, One Feared Dead

An uncompleted 2-storey building collapsed yesterday at Ologuneru in Ido LGA of Ibadan city with one feared dead. According to those who were working at the site, they head a deafening noise at about 2pm, which made them all run out for safety but unfortunately, the tipper driver who supplies sand to the construction site didn't run fast enough and got trapped in the building as it collapsed.

29-Year-Old Man Kills His Own Daughter Over Plate of Rice

According to a report by Tribune, a 29-year-old man named Kingsley Ekerete (pictured above), has been arrested for killing his own 7 year old daughter over a plate of boiled rice in Obimama, Oyigbo LGA of Rivers state.

Kingsley, a commercial driver who hails from Nto Osung community in Ikot Ekpene Local Area of Akwa Ibom State, holds just a First Leaving Certificate and has to drive his bus daily through the bustling traffic of Port Harcourt to make ends meet and put food on the table for his young family.
Judging from his looks, no one would have taken him for a murderer or imagined that he is capable of killing his own child.

Woman Drops Dead After Drinking Holy Water In Abuja

A lady died on Monday after drinking power water allegedly given to her by a pastor at Ajegunle area of Mpape, Abuja.

According to a resident of the area, the deceased and her friend had gone to the house of the pastor who is known to be able to cure many diseases with his power water that morning. When they got there, the pastor gave them the power water to drink. The deceased drank first and then gave the remaining to her friend who also drank.

14 and 15 Year Old Girls Arrested For Planning To Kill Their Maths Teacher

Two girls have been arrested for allegedly plotting to kill a maths teacher at their school, just days after Ann Maguire was stabbed to death.  The girls, aged 14 and 15, were taken away by police to be questioned over the suspected knife plot to murder teacher Alison Cray at their 1,000 pupil school, in Wales.

U.S Offers to Help Nigeria in Hunt for 234 Abducted Girls

The United States has offered to help Nigeria in the search for the 200+ schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram men on April 14th.

"We have been engaged with the Nigerian government in discussions on what we might do to help support their efforts to find and free these young women," State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf told a daily briefing. "We will continue to have those discussions and help in any way we can."Harf did not elaborate on the kind of assistance Washington is offering, but said: "We know Boko Haram is active in the area and we have worked very closely with the Nigerian government to build their capacity to fight this threat."
