Five Killed in Attack On Ex-IG’s Town in Jigawa



The stillness of the night in Ringim, Jigawa State was shattered by the booming sounds of gunfire. A town, where a former Inspector General of Police (IG), Hafiz Ringim, hails from, was under attack by gunmen whose mission was yet to be identified. Some claimed they were robbers. Others suspected they might be members of Boko Haram who have made life in neighbouring Kano State a living hell. Residents, thrown into panic, fled in all directions in a bid to avoid being mowed down in the hail of bullets.
Monday, a day after the attack, the people and security agencies began to count the cost of the attack.

‘I Planned Fuel Station Robbery’- Station Manager

A petrol station manager, Adewale Ilesanmi, 33, has allegedly confessed to the police in Lagos, southwest Nigeria, how he arranged with a robbery gang to snatch his employer’s N4,635,000 from a female supervisor on her way from their filling station to the bank to lodge the money.

He allegedly revealed this in his confessional statement to the police after the robbery operation in which he was to have a share of the loot.

Ilesanmi is the manager in charge of Golden Super filling station, a division of Golden Super Nigeria Limited at Alakuko area of Ojokoro, Lagos.

Witness: THISDAY Bomber Attacked Office with 12 Gas Cylinders



A Federal High Court in Abuja Monday was told how an alleged member of the Boko Haram sect, Mustapher Umar, bombed the SOJ Plaza occupied by THISDAY, The Moment and The Sun newspapers in Kaduna with 12 camp gas cylinders.
The revelation was made on a day the trial judge, Justice Adeniyi Ademola, barred the public from observing the trial of Umar.

20 armed robbers attack South African casino

About 20 armed robbers Sunday attacked a famous casino in South Africa, but the attempt failed following a shootout with police that left three people wounded, a media report said. In the morning shootout at the Emperors Palace casino in Johannesburg, the robbers opened fire at police, Xinhua cited the South African Broadcasting Company (SABC) as saying.

Two suspects were shot and injured in the shootout, and an innocent child in the vicinity got hit and wounded by a stray bullet, police said.

At least 10 suspects were arrested.

The report said police were ready to foil the robbery as they had already received information about the attempt.

BREAKING: Militants kidnap nine oil workers in Bayelsa




NINE workers of two oil servicing companies, the Octopus Clan Nigerian Limited and the Deck Oil Services, were yesterday confirmed kidnapped along the Ilebiri Creek in the southern Ijaw area of Bayelsa State by gunmen suspected to be renegade militants. The oil workers, according to top security sources, were abducted around 2.00 p.m. last Thursday by gunmen suspected to be killers of the 12 policemen last month along the waterways of Azuzuama community of the southern Ijaw area.

OH MY GOD: Cripple, three others remanded for rape

Four persons, including a cripple have been remanded in prison custody by an Oredo Chief Magistrate’s Court, Edo State, for allegedly gang-raping a 22-year-old girl.

The accused, Saturday Enabulele (28); Moses Okoeki (18); Osasumwen Enina (17) and Junior Odubu (20) allegedly gang-raped a woman (name withheld), beating and tearing her clothes, while filming the whole incident with a camera phone.

FG bans Amaechi’s plane from flying
