Striking Health Workers Paralyse Activities In Hospitals Nationwide

As the three-day nationwide warning strike called by the Joint Health Sector Unions, JOHESU, in league with the Association of Health Professionals ends today, services were paralysed for the second day in most health institutions nationwide.

8 Farmers Arrested for Forcing Widow to Dance Naked in Market

MAKURDI — Eight farmers were, yesterday, arraigned before a Makurdi Chief Magistrate Court for allegedly stripping a widow, one Mrs. Ann Adikwu, and parading her at a market square in Orokam, Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State.

The accused persons were charged with criminal conspiracy, assault on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty; exhibition of obscene pictures and theft punishable under Sections 97 (1), 269, 203 and 288 of the penal code.

Three Bombs Rock Cairo Killing Five People

CAIRO (AFP) – Three bombs hours apart hit Cairo police headquarters and policemen in the Egyptian capital Friday killing at least five people on the eve of the anniversary of the 2011 uprising against Hosni Mubarak.

The first bomb struck the Cairo security directorate around 6:15 am (0415 GMT), killing four people and wounding more than 70, the health ministry said.

There was pandemonium at the Upper Court 4 in Anguwan Jaki, Bauchi State, yesterday, as an angry mob almost lynched seven suspected homosexuals brought to court for trial.

One of the suspects was identified as the Principal of a Government Secondary School in the state.

Court Remands Herbalist In Prison Over Homosexuality

A Makurdi Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday remanded herbalist, Tarvhi Nyitse, in prison custody for alleged homosexuality. Nyitse, 30, resides in Naka in Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue.

Prosecutor James Zungwe told the court that one Terzungwe Yev reported the matter at ‘D’ Division Police Station on Jan 16.
