Ebonyi State House of Assembly Speaker impeached, new speaker elected

The speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Chukwuma Nwazunku has been impeached. He was impeached this morning July 21st by 18 out of the 24 members of the House. He was impeached over allegations of gross misconduct, incompetence and corruption.

According to reports, the members of the House re-instated three members who were on suspension before moving to impeach the Speaker.

Bodies of MH17 crash victims tossed into rubbish trucks and taken to morgue train after 3 days laying in field

Bodies of about 200 victims of the Malaysian Airlines flight that was shot down on Thursday July 17th were left in heat in fields for over three days before they were finally piled up in bags and tossed into rubbish trucks then transported to refrigerated train carriages where they are said to be decaying.

The train with the dead bodies, which observers says is stinking of decay, is stationed in the town of Torez where rebels who are in charge say they will let it leave this afternoon but didn't indicate where or whether the bodies would be handed over.

Nigerian Air Force Jet crashes in Borno State

A Nigerian Air Force Mi-35 helicopter that was on a training mission crashed this afternoon in South Bama, Borno. According to a statement signed by Nigeria Defence spokesperson, Chris Olukolade, the jet crashed due to technical fault and not as a result of any enemy action. The statement did not say whether anyone was killed or injured in the crash.

Mr. Olukolade said investigation has commenced to unravel the circumstances that led to the crash.

Boko Haram abducts politician's wife and two children in Borno state

Suspected members of Boko Haram have kidnapped the wife and two children of Alhaji Zaraye Mala Sheriff, a Councillor in Borno state who is reported to be a cousin of former Borno state, governor, Ali Modu Sheriff.

A source told Daily Trust that the men stormed the Ngala town residence of the politician in the early hours of Friday July 18th.

FG bans registration of Nigerians, says its worse than Boko Haram

The Federal government Monday condemned the registration of Nigerians resident in states other than their state of origin and deportation of Nigerians to their states of origin by some state governments, warning that the move is capable disintegrating the country.

Addressing state House Correspondents after the meeting of the National Security Council monday, the Director General of the Department of States Services, Mr Ita Ekpenyong said the council directed that the practices must be stopped forthwith as every Nigerian is free to live in any part of the Country without molestation.

Hijacked car: 4-yr-old boy dragged to death in S/Africa

JOHANNESBURG – A four-year-old boy trapped by his seatbelt was dragged to his death behind a hijacked car in South Africa, leaving his traumatised mother screaming at the side of the road, police and media said Monday.

“Mommy help me,” were the last words Chantel Morris heard from her panicked son Taegrin as he struggled to free himself before the car sped off with him hanging helplessly out of the door, Independent group newspapers reported.

Two bank workers, eight others die in Modakeke robbery

The bank robbery incident which occurred on Thursday evening in Modakeke, Osun State, claimed no fewer than 10 lives.

Armed robbers were said to have invaded two banks located in the town and carted away a huge sum of money. Our correspondent gathered that 10 people, including two bank workers were shot dead during the operation.

US cautions Israel on civilian casualties

Israel has warned it could “significantly widen” a Gaza land offensive but was cautioned by its main ally, the United States, about the risks of further escalation as Palestinian civilian deaths mounted.

Palestinian officials said 65 Palestinians, at least 15 of them under the age of 18, had been killed since Israel sent ground forces on Thursday into the densely-populated enclave of 1.8 million Palestinians.

The Israeli army said it killed 17 Palestinian gunmen and took 13 prisoners in operations inside the Gaza Strip. One Israeli soldier was killed and several others injured.

Pastors are supposed to be the conscience of the society. They are supposed to be God’s representatives here on earth. Like Elisha in the Bible, they are supposed to warn the people about the dangers of disobeying God and guide them to the path of righteousness. They are supposed to lead by example.
