59 persons came in contact with Ebola victim –LASG

Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris

He Lagos State Government on Monday said 59 people in the state came in contact with the 40-year-old Liberian who died of Ebola virus in Lagos.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris, who made this known in Ikeja, explained that the number consisted of 44 health care workers and 15 others at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos. The commissioner said the government had not been able to establish the number of contacts the Liberian had on the plane that flew him into Nigeria because the management of Asky Airline had not provided it with the manifest.

Ebonyi State House of Assembly Speaker impeached, new speaker elected

The speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Chukwuma Nwazunku has been impeached. He was impeached this morning July 21st by 18 out of the 24 members of the House. He was impeached over allegations of gross misconduct, incompetence and corruption.

According to reports, the members of the House re-instated three members who were on suspension before moving to impeach the Speaker.

Bodies of MH17 crash victims tossed into rubbish trucks and taken to morgue train after 3 days laying in field

Bodies of about 200 victims of the Malaysian Airlines flight that was shot down on Thursday July 17th were left in heat in fields for over three days before they were finally piled up in bags and tossed into rubbish trucks then transported to refrigerated train carriages where they are said to be decaying.

The train with the dead bodies, which observers says is stinking of decay, is stationed in the town of Torez where rebels who are in charge say they will let it leave this afternoon but didn't indicate where or whether the bodies would be handed over.

Nigerian Air Force Jet crashes in Borno State

A Nigerian Air Force Mi-35 helicopter that was on a training mission crashed this afternoon in South Bama, Borno. According to a statement signed by Nigeria Defence spokesperson, Chris Olukolade, the jet crashed due to technical fault and not as a result of any enemy action. The statement did not say whether anyone was killed or injured in the crash.

Mr. Olukolade said investigation has commenced to unravel the circumstances that led to the crash.

FG bans registration of Nigerians, says its worse than Boko Haram

The Federal government Monday condemned the registration of Nigerians resident in states other than their state of origin and deportation of Nigerians to their states of origin by some state governments, warning that the move is capable disintegrating the country.

Addressing state House Correspondents after the meeting of the National Security Council monday, the Director General of the Department of States Services, Mr Ita Ekpenyong said the council directed that the practices must be stopped forthwith as every Nigerian is free to live in any part of the Country without molestation.

Hijacked car: 4-yr-old boy dragged to death in S/Africa

JOHANNESBURG – A four-year-old boy trapped by his seatbelt was dragged to his death behind a hijacked car in South Africa, leaving his traumatised mother screaming at the side of the road, police and media said Monday.

“Mommy help me,” were the last words Chantel Morris heard from her panicked son Taegrin as he struggled to free himself before the car sped off with him hanging helplessly out of the door, Independent group newspapers reported.
