Ghana bans flights from Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Liberia over Ebola concerns

Ghana has officially banned flights from 4 West African countries; Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Nigeria, citing concerns about the rapid spread of the Ebola virus, which has claimed several lives.

Charles Asare, Managing Director of the Ghana Airport Company, said the measure was part of a set of emergency management plans officials are rolling out to combat the spread of the virus. Continue..

Rapper Cam'ron says unless a woman has had 4 abortions, her 'box' is no good

US Rapper Cam'ron posted what you see above on his instagram page claiming that unless a woman over 35 years old has had at least 4 abortions, her vagina won't be fun for any man. He made an exception to women who can't conceive due to complications but every other healthy woman who hasn't had up to 4 abortions - her vagina is 'dumb wack' and 'dry shit' according to him. NYSC redeploys corpers from Borno, Kano, Yobe, 4 other states

Following the increased rate of Boko Haram attacks in Northern Nigeria, the National Youth Service Corps has redeployed corps members posted to 7 northern states namely: Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Jigawa, Kano and Yobe states to other states believed to have lesser security issues.

In a statement signed yesterday July 31st by the Director of Public Relations NYSC, Mrs Bose Aderibigbe, the corps members redeployed are part of the 2014 Batch ‘B’ Orientation Course scheduled to commence next week Tuesday August 5, 2014. Continue...

Prince William and Kate Middleton Put on Rare PDA at CW Games

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge put on a rare public display of affection when they attended a Swimming competition at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow yesterday. El Rufai's son Hamza El Rufai died this morning in a fatal accident. Here are pics from the accident scene. Hamza was driving the black Lexus car (pictured above) when he ran into a stationery blue colored Volkswagen Saloon car around the Ningi Barrack along A.Y.A - Kubwa road aroudn 5.30am this morning July 29th.

Two persons were involved in the crash but only Hamza died. According to the Federal Road Safety Corps, his corpse was taken to the national mosque by his parents while the crashed vehicles were deposited at the Maitama Police station. Nigerian weightlifting Gold medalist fails doping test at Commonwealth Games

The Commonwealth Games Federation this morning July 29th said Nigerian female weightlifting gold medalist Chika Amalaha has failed a doping test.

CGF chief executive Mike Hooper said Amalaha, 17, tested positive for diuretics and masking agents after winning gold in the 53-kilogram (117-pound) division last Friday July 25th.

The backup "B'' sample will be tested tomorrow Wednesday July 30th.

Nigerian ambassador, 3 ECOWAS staff, 55 others had contact with Lagos Ebola victim

59 people including the Nigerian Ambassador to Liberia, Chigozie Obi Nnadozie are said to have had direct and indirect contact with the late Liberian man, Patrick Sawyer, who died on Friday July 25th from the Ebola Virus in Lagos.

At a Joint Ministerial Press briefing of the Lagos State Ministry of Health and Federal Ministry of Health on development concerning the disease yesterday July 28th, the state Commissioner of Health, Dr Jide Idris said out of the 59 people who had contact with the late Patrick Sawyer, 44 were hospital contacts (38 healthcare workers & 6 laboratory staff) and 15 Airport contacts comprising 3 ECOWAS staff-driver, Liaison, and Protocol officers, Nigerian Ambassador to Monrovia, two nursing staff and five Airport passenger handlers. Blessing Okagbare wins Gold in Women's 100m final in Glasgow

Sprinter Blessing Okagbare just won Gold in the Women's 100m for Nigeria in the Commonwealth Games. She won in a time of 10.85 seconds in a new Games record, making her the second fastest woman of all time in World 100 metres. She beat Jamaica’s Veronica Campbell-Brown, Kerron Stewart and England’s Asha Phillip who came second, third and fourth respectively.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three suspected fraudsters who allegedly specialised in withdrawing money from people’s bank accounts. Our correspondent learnt that the suspects ─ Kola Osho, Oyedepo Adesola and Kola Ademola ─ were apprehended by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in the Pipeline area, Abule-Egba, Lagos.

It was gathered that the suspects were apprehended after a tip-off had reached the police that some fraudsters were lurking at the location.
