Nollywood Director Replies Genevieve For describing Nollywood as Blande and Mediocre

Explaining the reason she's been scarce in Nollywood movies for a while now, Genevieve Nnaji, in an interview with Punch over the weekend, said;

“I guess I haven’t found the right script yet. Creativity and depth are the qualities that I look out for in a script. In the beginning, the movie industry emphasised quantity but things are changing and there is an improvement in trend. I am among the people who advocate for the improvement of the industry. So said, I am constantly watching out for the kind of stories I take part in. I am in support of movies that show a great deal of professionalism and creativity. Having practiced my art in international & professionally produced stories like ‘Ije’; ‘Mirror boy;’ and ‘Tango with me’, I don’t think I can return to the blandness and mediocrity that characterized Nollywood in the past.”Well, one Nollywood movie director wasn't happy about Genevieve's description of their industry. In a statement released today, Mac Collins Chidebe (pictured right) said Genevieve should come and improve Nollywood instead of blasting the industry that brought her fame and fortune.

Rick Ross Arrested After Concert In North Carolina

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — Rapper Rick Ross has been released after his arrest following a North Carolina concert.

Greensboro Police Department spokeswoman Susan Danielsen says that Ross was taken into custody Friday night after the SuperJam concert. She says a court had issued an order for his arrest because he failed to appear in court on a previous misdemeanor marijuana charge.

GEJ to go watch Super Eagles in Brazil if they make it to quarter-final

President Jonathan has promised to travel to Brazil to watch the Super Eagles live if they make it to the quarter-final stage of the 2014 World Cup. Nigeria will play France in the Round of 16 tomorrow Monday June 30th (5pm Nigerian time) and if they beat France, GEJ and some members of his govt will travel to Brazil to watch their next match.

England Fan’s Ear Bitten off During Uruguay Game

(AFP) – An England fan had his ear bitten off by another during the side’s World Cup game against Uruguay in Brazil, police in Britain said on Saturday.

The assault at the Group D game in Sao Paulo on 19 June left the man with half of his left ear ripped off and bloodied, they said.

A fan has made a complaint to police and the name of a suspect has been given to police, although no arrests have been made, the Association of Chief Police Officers said.
