Chess Grandmaster Defeats 10 Inmates While Blindfolded

At Cook County Jail in Chicago, a chess program teaches inmates that patience and strategy are more effective than impulsive decision making.

The program must be working, because nobody got stabbed on Friday when grandmaster Timur Gareev simultaneously beat 10 prisoners even though he couldn't see the pieces. Convicts went down in defeat, one after another, as a blindfolded Gareev called out his moves from a swivel chair at the front of the room, according to WBBM Newsradio's Mike Krauser.

Human rights lawyer Femi Falana has asked the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. MD Abubakar, to ensure the immediate release from unlawful detention of Mrs. Clara Chime, the First Lady of Enugu State who is being held hostage at Government House Enugu by Governor Sullivan Chime, or be dragged to court.

Yoto Seibokuro, a Southern Ijaw native, is being detained by the drug agency in Yenagoa, the state capital, after his arrest on October 26, 2013 in the Agudama environs of the state where he was allegedly found dealing in cannabis sativa aka Indian Hemp.
