Police arraign applicant for stealing ATM cards


The police on Thursday arraigned an applicant, Kingley Francis, 24, for stealing three ATM cards, 960 Zain recharge cards and cigarettes valued at N850,000.

Francis, of no fixed address, is charged with theft.


The prosecutor, Cpl Umar Ango, told the court that on March 14, Mr Habu Kasimu of Jiwa Village, Abuja, lodged a report against the accused in Wuse Zone 3 Police Station, Abuja.

He alleged that on March 12, the accused went to the Wuse Zone 5 shopping plaza, Abuja, and stole the items.

Ango said that the accused was standing trial for theft which contravened the Penal Code.

The accused pleaded not guilty.

The Senior Magistrate, Mrs Folashade Oyekan, granted the accused bail for N100,000 with two reliable sureties who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.

She said one of the sureties must be a civil servant not below GL 07.

Oyekan adjourned the case until April 3 for hearing.
