Smooth FM OAP and programmes director, Kirk Anthony, dies at 53
Jamaican born Smooth 98.1FM On-Air-Personality and Director of Programmes, Kirk Anthony Derrick has passed on. According to sources, Kirk collapsed a few hours after his show, The Kazbah, yesterday evening May 31 and was rushed to Reddington hospital in Victoria Island where he was pronounced dead. Cause of death will be known next week when the autopsy result comes out.

JTF arrests hungry Boko Haram fighters
The Joint Task Force on Thursday arrested some suspected Boko Haram members in search of food in the forests of the northern part of Borno State. Director of Defence Information, Brig.-Gen. Chris Olukolade, who issued the information in an electronic mail on Friday, also said some insurgents dislodged from their camps were making efforts to establish new ones.
Olukolade said the special forces were on the trail of such suspected terrorists.

President Goodluck Jonathan says he has yet to see a copy of the State-of-the-Nation Address Bill recently passed by the National Assembly, hence he has not signed the document into law. Atiku insists on dialogue with aggrieved parties
Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar on Friday in Abuja expressed concern over the security challenges in the country with a call on the Federal Government to have a dialogue with aggrieved parties. While suggesting that decisive measures should be taken to protect innocent people, the ex-VP, however, warned that the current emergency rule in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states should not foreclose the need for a dialogue with the Boko Haram Islamic sect.
