Chibok girls: Niger state cancels Children' Day and Democracy Day celebrations

The Niger state government today May 22 cancelled the forthcoming Children's Day and Democracy Day celebrations in the state. According to the state's Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Danladi Ndayebo, the celebration was cancelled because of the missing Chibok girls and the security situation in the country.

N10bn probe: Alison-Madueke, NNPC file fresh suit against National Assembly

ABUJA— The Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, yesterday, instituted a fresh legal action against the two chambers of the National Assembly, challenging their powers to probe allegations that she spent N10 billion on chartered private jets.

The Minister filed the suit on a day the House Committee on Public Accounts invited the her, the Group Managing Director of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Andrew Yakubu, and Federal Airports Authority, FAAN, to appear before it on June 15 to explain their roles in the alleged N10 billion jet scam.

‘Bird Woman’ Sons Surface, Deny Mum’s Witchcraft Accusation

Two men – children of the unidentified elderly woman who was almost lynched by a mob in the Ajegunle area of Lagos after being accused of witchcraft – have identified the victim as their mother.

They said the octogenarian was not a witch, but a victim of the nature and had been missing from home. On Wednesday, the elderly woman was attacked by a mob which accused her of being a black bird that transformed into a human being.

These are some faces of the students of University of Jos who lost their lives in that unfortunate and wicked bomb blast two days ago.Their school mates circulated the photos .Among them are Mike Ogbole ,Milli, Vivian, Lydia, Francisca ..

Said most of them(final year medical students) finished practical lectures held at the Jos university teaching hospital (Juth) which is close to terminus market and were returning when they got caught up in the blast..

So young and full of life.Dreams buried....May they RIP ..

The United States Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy and Human Rights, Sarah Sewall, has said that corruption is hindering Nigeria’s efforts at ending insurgency in the North-East.

Sewall, who appeared before a hearing of the House Foreign Affairs Committee on Wednesday, alongside a Pentagon top Africa official, Amanda Dory, added that the military must overcome entrenched corruption and incompetence for it to rescue the over 200 schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram on April 14.
