2 Men Sentenced To Prison For Killing An Ape

A Malaysian court has sentenced two Filipino plantation workers to two years imprisonment each for killing an orangutan in the eastern state of Sabah, a wildlife official said on Friday.

Sabah state wildlife Director, Laurentius Ambu said that the two workers on January 29 hunted down and used machetes to attack the orangutan which frequented the palm oil plantation where they were working in Lahad Datu.

Three suspected criminals, who allegedly specialise in snatching bags from women in Calabar, Cross River State, were on Tuesday hacked with machetes till they were almost dead by residents of the area.

Wife Pours Hot Water on Husband in Lagos

Lagos – A 28-year old housewife, Chidinma Kalu, on Friday appeared in an Apapa Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, charged with pouring hot water on her husband. Kalu, who resides at Ijora Badia area of Apapa, Lagos, is facing a one-count charge of assault.

The prosecutor, Insp. Friday Inedu, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Feb. 8 at their residence.

Truck Kills 37 Year Old Woman While Praying in Church

ABEOKUTA — Tragedy struck, on Thursday, when a middle-aged woman was crushed to death while praying inside a church in Sotunbo, area along the busy Sagamu/Ikorodu road in Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun state.

The incident, which occurred at about 6.00 am, was reported to be the second in three weeks in the same church.
