Real Madrid are putting together a stunning £110million package to capture Gareth Bale. The Spanish giants are preparing a £60m bid for Tottenham star Bale and will offer the Welshman a £10m-a-year, five-year contract.

Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State shocked guests at the traditional wedding of the Nigerian hip pop sensation on Friday when he announced a gift of two brand new Toyota Prado SUVs to the musician and his wife, Annie Macaulay. At the event in Eket, Mr. Akpabio also announced that the state would bankroll an all-expense paid trip for 29 delegates from the state to attend the white wedding of the couple fixed for Dubai, the United Arab Emirate on March 23.

Governors’ Non-release Of Judiciary Funds Stirs Controversy

The Joint Task Force Operation on Saturday said its operatives killed 52 members of the violent sect, Boko Haram. It also said it had arrested 70 suspected terrorists in the last 10 days and recovered uniforms, arms, ammunition and other items from members of the sect.

Terrorism: France places Nigerians under watch

France has placed its citizens with roots in Nigeria, Niger, Mali and Senegal under close watch for links to terrorist groups. A French judge, Marc Trevidic, said in a recent interview with the New York Times in Paris, that the security watch arose from fears that French citizens with roots in these countries could leave the European nation and travel to Mali to receive training from terrorists and return home to cause havoc.

Britain probes video, FG keeps mum


The British Foreign Office said it is “urgently investigating” reports that a British national was among the victims killed by JAMBS. An online newspaper, Daily Record, quoted a Foreign Office spokesman as saying, “We are aware of reports of the death of a British national in Nigeria and are urgently investigating. We urge the media not to speculate at this extremely sensitive time.”

Unending war against terrorism

The brutish murder of seven abducted Setraco workers by the Jama’atu Ansarul Musilimina Fi Biladis Sudanhas further shown that security agencies should go the extra-mile to contain the growing threat which the relatively new sect constitutes. JAMBS, an offshoot of the Boko Haram sect, had abducted the workers at their camp in Jama’are, in Bauchi State on February 18, 2013 and threatened to kill them if France did not stop its military operation against Islamic rebels in Mali.

APC woos aggrieved PDP governors


The All Progressives Congress has expressed its preparedness to receive the Peoples Democratic Party governors sympathetic to the embattled Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, into its fold following the governors’ threats to leave the PDP.
