Soldiers Invade Hamza Al-Mustapha's Kano Residence


On Friday evening, armed men suspected to be soldiers raided one of the residences of Major Hamza Al-Mustapha (rtd.), former Chief Security Officer to the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha.

The heavily-armed men who reportedly came in trucks and tanks allegedly cordoned several streets leading to the house located at Durbin Katsina, Kano metropolis, and seized the occupants who were mostly women and children in an operation that lasted an hour.

20 Boko Haram suspects killed in Abuja DSS attack


No fewer than 20 Boko Haram detainees have been shot dead in a shoutout that ensued this morning at the Department of State Security Service in the Asokoro a district of Abuja.

Vanguard learnt that the shoutout erupted when some of the suspected terrorists attempted to free their members and leave the detention facility, which is by the precincts of the Presidential Villa.

Drama between Femi Kuti and Pastor Adefarasin at House on the rock


At the funeral service of Olufemi Enitan Segun, which took place at the House on the Rock Cathedral, Lekki, Lagos, on Friday, March 28, 2014, there was a mild drama between Pastor Paul Adefarasin and King of Afrobeat, Femi Kuti.

Ebola death toll reaches 70 in Guinea


At least 70 people are reported to have died from Ebola hemorrhagic fever in Guinea, according to a statement from theWest African nation’s health ministry.

Officials say there are at least 111 suspected cases of the viral disease, which spreads in the blood and shuts down the immune system, causing high fever, headache and muscle pain. The virus is transmitted by contact with the fluids of infected people or animals.

Again Boko Haram attacks Borno village, kills 4


Violence erupted again in Borno state, as 30 gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram terrorists on motorcycles attacked Azir village in Damboa council area of the state, killing four residents with the injuring of seven others in the early hours of Saturday.

Azir village is a farming and herdsmen community, and 107 kilometres south of
Maiduguri, the state capital.

Heavy gunfire reported around Aso Villa and SSS HQ this morning (PHOTOS)


There are reports of heavy gunfire exchanges around the presidential Villa and the headquarters of the Department of State Services in the Asokoro District of Abuja early this morning.

Hairdresser Charged To Court For Stealing Buckets of Paint

A hairdresser, Temitope Onifade, 29, was on Friday arraigned before a Badagry Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing two buckets of paint valued at N12,000. The accused, who resides at No. 44 Market road, Badagry, is facing a one count of stealing.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Innocent Uko, told the court that the accused and two others, now at large, had on March 9, at Ajara shopping complex, stole two buckets of paint from one Edu Adaeze.

NYPD Shuts Down Davido's NY Concert Because it Was Over-Packed


You have to be a really special artist for this to happen to you. The New York Police Department last night March 28th shut down Davido's concert which held at Pulse 48 in Brooklyn because the concert was overbooked, leading to safety concerns. People going to the concert caused shut down of two blocks in Brooklyn, forcing the police to intervene.

Man bags 10 months imprisonment for stealing biscuits

A Grade 1 Area Court, Karu, FCT, on Thursday sentenced Ola Omo, of Asokoro, Abuja, to 10 months imprisonment for stealing wine and biscuits.

The Presiding Officer, Mr Hassan Ishaq, however, gave the accused an option of N18,000 fine for the offences of criminal trespass, house breaking and theft. The Prosecutor, Mr Phillip Akogwu, had told the court that the accused stole the items from the shop of one Eniola Doherty.

Vigilante sentenced to Four Months in Prison for Assault

An Upper Area Court in Zuba, FCT, on Friday sentenced a member of a vigilance group, Idris Aloma, 35, to four months and 21 days in prison for slapping his friend’s younger brother.

Aloma, who resides in Ungwan Hausawa-Tunga Maje, FCT, is arraigned for assault. The presiding Judge, Malam Aminu Sa’ad, sentenced Aloma after he pleaded guilty to the one count charge of assault.

Man Seeks Divorce over Threat to Life


A 48-year-old man, Oluyemi Adenekan, on Friday urged the Agege Customary Court, Lagos to dissolve his 20-year-old marriage on the grounds of threat to life and his wife’s quarrelsome attitude.

The petitioner, who lives at 5, Adewumi St., Agege, told the court that his wife, Hannah, once left him for four years and returned after she had two kids for another man.

Gunmen Abduct Husband and Wife in Bayelsa


Unknown gunmen have abducted parents of a prominent businessman in Konga, a fishing community in Akassa, Brass Local Government of Bayelsa State. It was learnt that the couple, Mr. and Mrs. Joel Kido, were abducted on Monday night.

The abductors had stormed their captives home in Akassa when they were asleep. They (gunmen) forced them to wake up when they threatened to set their house on fire if they refused to open the door.
