For a long time now spanning several years, the tale in town has always been that Nollywood’s top two actresses, Genevieve Nnaji and Omotola Jalade-Ekehinde are at daggers drawn. Even though they have co-starred in several movies, the bitter tale wouldn’t go away. 

KWARA STATE POLICE COMMISSIONER SHOT DEAD






Tragedy struck in Enugu last night when the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Chinweke Asadu, was shot dead by unknown gunmen. His police orderly, Aloha Olaniyi and Driver, Oliver Omeh, who were with him at the time of the incident sustained serious bullet wounds and are said to be lying critically at the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Enugu.

Statement on fire outbreak at M-Net studios in Ojota yesterday


Below is a statement released by M-Net...
It has been confirmed that a fire broke out yesterday afternoon (Saturday March 2, 2013) at the Ojoto Studios facility, which is home to both M-Net and SuperSport productions in Nigeria. At this time, the fire is under control and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the blaze. Whilst the fire appears to have caused significant damage to the facility, which may result in some screening delays for programs recorded on site, M-Net and SuperSport are already hard at work with a view to resuming production as soon as possible in order to minimize any impact on viewing audiences at home. Further M-Net, SuperSport and MultiChoice are deeply thankful and grateful that no-one was injured during this unfortunate incident.

Killers of 15 year old Nigerian boy, Junior Nkwelle, found guilty of manslaughter



The 14 year old girl who ordered the stabbing of 15 year old Nigerian boy, Junior Nkwelle, for being ‘disrespectful’ was found guilty of manslaughter yesterday March 1, 2013. Junior and his friends had been playing football near his home when an argument broke out. The teenage girl claimed Junior had insulted her during the argument. She then called her 16 year old boyfriend on the phone to a housing estate in Brixton and ordered him to ‘teach Junior a lesson’. The boyfriend thrust a carving knife once into Junior's chest, killing him. This happened in September 2012.

Jonathan bags Ivorien’s highest national honour

IVORIEN President, Alassane Ouattara late Friday in Abidjan, conferred Cote D’Ivoire’s highest honour, the Grand Cross of the Order of the Nation on President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan at a state banquet. Ouattara, who also conferred the honour of Commander of the Order of the Nation on the president’s wife, Dame Patience Jonathan, said it was in appreciation of Nigeria’s contributions to peace, stability and progress in Cote d’Ivoire.

Gunmen fire hand grenades into place of worship in Plateau

42 private jets land at Lagos airport daily


No fewer than 42 private jets land at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos daily, findings by Punch Newspaper correspondent have revealed. A statement obtained by the correspondent from Nigeria’s first commercial private jet hangar, Evergreen Apple Nigeria, on Friday indicated that it received 15 private jet fights everyday.

Abia varsity withdraws Kalu’s certificate




The Abia State University has withdrawn the degree certificate it awarded to a former governor of the state, Uzor Orji Kalu. An online news portal, Premium Times, reports that the university in a statement by its Registrar, O. E. Onuoha, on Saturday said the decision was taken after an emergency meeting of the university senate which considered the recommendations of a panel which investigated the allegations levelled against Kalu.

Jonathan: Presidency, North differ on 2015 court verdic



The presidency has described the verdict of a Federal Capital Territory High Court which on Friday declared that President Goodluck Jonathan could contest the 2015 presidential election as a “welcome development.” Justice Mudashiru Oniyangi on Friday, made the declaration in his judgment in a suit which sought to stop Jonathan from contesting the election in 2015.
