Man who sold up to $40 million worth of counterfeit headphones gets two years in jail



A man accused of being one of the "most prolific sellers" of counterfeit electronics in the UK has just been sent down for two and a half years. Over 4,000 fakes, mainly consisting of knock-off Sennheiser and Monster headphones, were found at Michael Reeder's address, with a value of around £250,000 ($400,000).

A female contract staff working with a new generation bank on Adeola Hopewell Street, Victoria Island, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, has been arrested by police at the Bar Beach Division, Victoria Island, Lagos, for allegedly withdrawing the sum of N7 million from the account of a customer of the bank by forging his signature.

Bayelsa IGR Hits N1bn Monthly



Gov. Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa on Friday said that the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) increased from N80 million to N1 billion monthly. Dickson, who announced the figures during the monthly briefing in Yenagoa, said that the state got N24 billion from the federation account for the month of March 2013.

Nigerian teenager, Opemipo Jaji found guilty of rape, facing life imprisonment


A Nigerian teenager who attacked and raped an 11 year old schoolgirl in November 2012 has been found guilty of rape and facing life imprisonment in the UK. 18 year old Opemipo Jaji was under a supervision order for having child porn and had just left an appointment with the Probation Service when he followed the victim as she took a bus home from school, according to the UK Daily Mail.

FG seeks 10-yr jail term for pension thieves



Finally, the Federal Government has commenced moves to prosecute civil servants involved in the pension scam rocking the Police Pension Office, with N149 billion reportedly missing from government coffers. The government has forwarded a new law to the National Assembly, seeking a 10-year imprisonment for pension thieves, some of whom are presently being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in separate courts in Abuja. President Goodluck Jonathan has requested the National Assembly to repeal and re-enact a new Pension Reform Bill, 2013.

A woman named Esther Peter (pictured above) on Tuesday April 16th allegedly killed her husband, Kenneth Peter Anayo, then set his body on fire at their home at NEPA Phase I Road, Ijagemo, around the Ikotun area of Lagos. Neighbours said the couple was always fighting in public and in fact there was a serious fight between them a few days before the Tuesday incident, where Esther stabbed her husband with a broken bottle and he had to be treated at the hospital.

Man, 22, to die by hanging for stealing N955, 600



While Billion Naira Government Thieves go scott free or with minimal 2 year sentences, A 22-year-old man, Julius Aboy was yesterday sentenced to death for stealing N955, 600 by a Delta State High Court sitting in Warri. The trial judge, Justice Marshal Mukoro of High Court 1, who handed down the sentence told the convict that he is to die by hanging.
