A former police sergeant facing murder charge over the killing of four University of Port Harcourt students told a High Court that the mob overwhelmed a police team sent to rescue the students. The accused, Lucky Orji, was charged along with 11 other persons in connection with the killing in Aluu Village in October 2012. Some other suspects are still at large.

Wasila Umaru was forced to marry to 35 year old Umaru Sani sometime last week. During the small wedding which took place in the northern Ungwar Yansoro village, at Gaya LGA near the city of Kano, the reluctant bride allegedly slipped rat poison into a rice dish that was eaten by the groom and some of his friends.

A terrifying ordeal occurred in Lagos last month when a man held down another man and raped him, a police prosecutor told an Abule Egba Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday. The prosecutor, Insp. Racheal Williams alleged that the accused had drugged his victim before raping him.

“When the complainant woke up, his anus was paining him and there was some left-over semen in it,’’ she said.
