Finally, Apple Acquires Beats by Dr. Dre in $3 billion Deal

Apple has just confirmed plans to purchase Beats Electronics for $3 billion. The acquisition ranks as the largest Apple has ever made and will see it take ownership of an enormously successful and profitable line of consumer headphones as well as a burgeoning subscription music service. Beats co-founders Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre will join Apple as part of the acquisition, which it will pay for with $2.6 billion in cash and $400 million in stock.

GTBank named "African Bank of the Year"

Guaranty Trust Bank Plc says it has been named the ‘2014 African Bank of the Year’ for the second consecutive time by the African Banker magazine.

The bank was given the award in Kigali, Rwanda.

A statement by the bank on Friday said the African Banker Award was held to recognise the achievements of the financial services industry in Africa.

Female Kidnapper Stripped Naked, Beaten and Paraded in Ogun State(PHOTOS)

A suspected female kidnapper was stripped naked and beaten in in Odi-Olowo street in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun state.According to reports, she was caught entering a house to kidnap a child who was home alone.

Someone raised an alarm and she was rounded up,beaten and paraded for more than two hours .They say they found money on her which she confessed was from the sale of a previously kidnapped child.She was eventually rescued by the police..

National Conference delegates vote to tax churches, mosques

Delegates at the ongoing National Conference yesterday May 27th voted unanimously for churches & mosques to pay taxes. The delegates arrived at the decision after deliberating on recommendations made by the Committee on Religion.

A delegate representing Civil Organizations, Mallam Naseer Kura, during the deliberation observed that most religious leaders in Nigeria are now making a lot of money from their organizations and so should be taxed accordingly.
