Female lawyer buys baby for N1.5 million

Mrs Ngala Norgu Julia, a Lawyer from Cameroon was recently arrested by the intelligence and investigation team of the Nigerian Immigration Service at the Calabar Port while trying to smuggle a one-week old baby girl out of the country.

She claims she was delivered of the baby by a herbalist at Okitikputa, Ondo State.

Vigilante Sentenced to Four Months in Prison for Assault

An Upper Area Court in Zuba, FCT, on Friday sentenced a member of a vigilance group, Idris Aloma, 35, to four months and 21 days in prison for slapping his friend’s younger brother.

Aloma, who resides in Ungwan Hausawa-Tunga Maje, FCT, is arraigned for assault.

The presiding Judge, Malam Aminu Sa’ad, sentenced Aloma after he pleaded guilty to the one count charge of assault.

Business Woman In Court for Criminal Intimidation

The Police on Friday arraigned a business woman, Mariam Ismaila, 22, in an Abuja Senior Magistrates’ Court for alleged threat and criminal intimidation.

Ismaila, of Kado, Life Camp, Abuja, is standing trial on a four counts of criminal intimidation, joint act, criminal force and assault before Senior Magistrate Mohammed Zubairu.

Two British citizens, Nigerians arrested for crude oil theft, bribery

The Joint Task Force (JTF) in the Niger Delta on March 28, 2014, Friday, announced the arrest of members of a syndicate specializing in crude oil theft. The members of the group, which included two Britons, have been arrested shortly after offering a bribe to the officials.

The suspects, who brought $66,500 (N10.6 million) to the JTF as the first half of the total N20m bribe, were paraded at the JTF Headquarters in Yenagoa on Friday.

NDLEA Nabs Man With Heroin In His Anus

A 34-year-old man has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for being in possession of heroin which was inserted in his anus.

According to a statement issued by Mr Mitchell Ofoyeju, Head, Public Affairs of NDLEA, on Friday, he was caught at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on his arrival from Pakistan.
