Kidnapped French Family: Army Says Wouldn’t React To Boko Haram Video


The Defence Headquarters on Wednesday said that it would not react to the purported video clip released by the Islamic fundamentalists, Boko Haram in which it listed conditions for the release of the French family it is holding hostage. The military is making this remark after a shocking video surfaced Monday on YouTube, showing masked gunmen in camouflage standing over their captives: four boys, their parents and the boys’ uncle.

THE Nigerian Army Wednesday denied the allegation that its troops killed any of the students who participated in the riots in front of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, on Monday.

Meanwhile, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has threatened to stage what it called “Mother of all protests” across the country if the soldiers, who allegedly perpetrated the killing, are not brought to book.

Emir Returns To Kano After Treatment Abroad


The Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero on Wednesday returned to the ancient city of Kano from London aboard a Presidential jet.

The Air Force Jet touched down at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport at about 6.50pm into the waiting hands of a crowd that consisted of the state government officials, traditional title holders, businessmen and artisans.
