Congress for Progressive Change has said its National Leader, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, was not persuaded by leaders of the All Progressives Congress or any other group to drop his 2015 presidential ambition. The National Publicity Secretary of the party, said reports that Buhari had been dissuaded from contesting the 2015 presidential election were false and originated from the Peoples Democratic Party.
“There is no such thing that the leaders of APC are trying to persuade Buhari not to contest. That is absolute nonsense. There is nothing like that. There was no time that APC leaders tried to persuade Buhari to rethink his decision to contest in 2015. Never was that ever mentioned,” he said.
Fashakin added that Buhari remained eligible to contest.
“Buhari is very eligible to contest and there is nothing wrong in him contesting. So, nobody should come and start insinuating that he will not contest. All that is coming from the camp of the PDP and it is quite understandable.
“The name, Muhammadu Buhari, causes trepidation in the presidency and the camp of the PDP, so they would not want him to contest. He is the only one that can command votes in excess of 12 million. The 22 million votes that candidate Jonathan got was a mere allocation by the Independent National Electoral Commission during the 2011 election. We are saying that come 2015, it would not be like before.”
When asked to comment on the claims that Buhari’s ambition was causing rancour in APC, Fashakin said it was not true.
“There is no rancour within the APC group. If you see that way we agreed on the name and the logo, you would see that leaders of these parties are ready to make the necessary sacrifices,” he said.TK's Blog | Free Forex Signals | Infotech Arena Tech News |
