ACN raises alarm over polls’ materials for A’Ibom – The Guardian

THE Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) has raised alarm over an alleged absence of Form EC8 and lack of serial numbers in the ballot papers brought to Akwa Ibom State for today’s governorship election.

In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, the party also alleged an on-going mass arrest of Ibibio chiefs and clan heads to intimidate and arm-twist them to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

‘’When the ballot papers for the governorship polls were inspected today (Monday), it was found that they do not carry serial numbers, while Form EC8 are also missing from the materials brought to the state for the governorship polls. This is a recipe for rigging,’’ it said.

Also, the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) governorship candidate in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Larry Esin, has called on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), the Director, State Security Service (SSS) and other security agencies to deploy more security personnel for today’s governorship election to avert violence.

Besides, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa has said the massive votes garnered by President Goodluck Jonathan during the presidential election sent panic into the ACN’s camp. She also dismissed claims of an unholy romance with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which officials she allegedly bribed with N200 million
