Electoral fraud: Police arrest six women, 9 others in Lagos


Police in Lagos on Tuesday arrested 15 persons, among them six women for alleged electoral offenses during the governorship and state assembly elections in the state.

The women specifically were apprehended while attempting to snatch ballot boxes at unit 10 Falomo polling centre.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Suleiman Abba, who confirmed this, however refused to reveal the identities of the ladies.

According to him, it is important to protect their integrity in the interim.

Speaking to journalists who monitored the poll with him in Lagos, Abba said the women were arrested by policemen attached to the Area A police headquarters, Lagos Island, and were transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department, Yaba.

The CP, nonetheless, said it was not true that the women went to the polling centre in a diplomatic vehicle.
