STF personnel murdered in Plateau •Gunmen kill GM in Borno

A mobile policeman, Corporal Friday Babale, attached to the Special Task Force in charge of security in Plateau State has been murdered by unknown gunmen in Barakin-Ladi Local Government Area of the state.The local government has witnessed a series of Fulani attacks in recent times, leading to the loss of many lives.

Last week, in neighbouring Riyom Council, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) along with his wife and son were also brutally murdered by assailants suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.

A statement issued by the Media/Information Officer of the Special Task Force said Babale was shot on Monday at about 8.30p.m. at Kakuru village, Kura falls in Barakin-Ladi Local Government Area while on his way to ease himself some metres away from his duty post.

The statement noted that the corporal was killed ostensibly by the same people he was trying to protect, adding that the murder bordered on criminality with the carting away of his rifle.

According to the statement, men of the STF have commenced search for the weapon and the perpetrators, adding that the force would not relent until the perpetrators are brought to book and the rifle recovered to avoid.

Meanwhile, the General Manager of Borno State Housing Corporation, Mr Isa Madu Ngaram, was killed by gunmen on Wednesday morning in Maiduguri metropolis.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that the gunmen trailed the general manager to his office situated in the state low cost housing estate and shot him while he was trying to enter his car which was parked behind his office.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state police command, DSP Jubrin Gideon, told newsmen that investigations were on so as to apprehend the assailants.
