This incident prompted the Plateau state police command to summon the elders of Riyom local government area in Plateau State North Central Nigeria.Police Commissioner, Chris Olakpe while commenting on the peaceful Christmas celebration and reacting to the incident that occurred in some villages during the celebrations however, confirmed that only one person was reported killed in Shonong village.
The police boss in order to forestall the incident escalating beyond the community immediately summon elders from the community with a warning to ensure that such acts of lawlessness is taken care of.
Residents on the Plateau are looking forward to another hitch free and rewarding celebrations that will usher in the New Year as the security agents continue to monitor situations and the residents have also been called on to also cooperate with security agents on the measures on ground for vehicular search and patrol, having celebrated a peaceful Christmas.
