Breaking News: UNIUYO Riot Today, Student Reportedly Shot Dead (Photos)

We're told it all started after the students waged a peaceful protest earlier on today to complain about the transportation problem they were having at the school. On arrival at the Vice Chancellor's office, the security officials there tried to stop the students from seeing the Vice Chancellor. Things got out of hand, students were throwing stones at security, police was called in, the protest escalated into a riot.

The police who were supposed to come and calm the situation fired shots at the students, allegedly killed one, injured three. Supposed picture of the dead student is after the cut.

The students angrily set the office of the V.C on fire and destroyed school property.

  1. It is a rather a sorrowful moment for the school community. One begins to wonder if a peaceful demonstration or protest has ever ended well in this country. Whether the students were right or wrong, who pays for it at the end, is it not the student. The semester is disrupted, the will pay for the damages at least for next two session with a restoration fees of about may 20000 per session, lets bet and see, who wins at the end.
