A teen suffered a bite to the head after he kicked a log -- that turned out to be an alligator.
Andrew Hudson, 17, was swimming on Monday at Little Big Econ State Forest in Florida when he saw what he thought was a 10-foot-long piece of wood in the water. His friend, Mark O'Shea, told WFTV that Hudson kicked the log, but it started moving.
In a flash, the alligator had Hudson in its jaws, ripping open two gashes on the left side of his skull.
"He kicked and started punching the gator," said O'Shea, according to the Associated Press. "That's what he told me [happened] when he was under the water."
By the time Hudson broke free and made it to shore, blood was pouring from his head. He used his shorts to stop the bleeding. O'Shea ran the half-mile to a forestry office and reported the gator attack.
"They looked at me like I was crazy. I'm like, 'My friend really got bit by an alligator,'" he said, according to the Miami Herald.
Hudson received stitches and staples for several puncture wounds to his head.
