The Reds have all but confirmed a deal for the Nigerian attacker…
Chelsea’s 23-year-old Nigerian wing-forward Victor Moses will join Liverpool on loan for the season, after the two clubs agreed a £1m fee, reports the Guardian.
The Reds had targeted big names like Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Diego Costa and Willian, but after the latter joined Chelsea, Rodgers has had to look to less ambitious targets.
In doing so, Liverpool have taken advantage of Chelsea’s wealth of attacking options, which has made Moses surplus to requirements. Kevin De Bruyne returned from a loan spell this summer, and Jose Mourinho also brought in Andre Schurrle and Willian – meaning the Nigerian would struggle for any game time whatsoever at Stamford Bridge.
Moses has not performed badly since joining the Europa League champions last summer from Wigan, scoring ten goals in all competitions. He will relish the chance of a more first-team football at Anfield though, and will team up with former Chelsea partner Daniel Sturridge in attack.
