Get voter card or be sacked from church - Bauchi CAN warns members

Bauchi State Chapter of the Christians Association of Nigeria, (CAN) has warned that any of its members, who refuses to be registered in the forthcoming voters registration exercise will not only be excommunicated from the church, but will be dismissed and strip of all privileges of a Christian.

Speaking to newsmen in Gombe , on Tuesday, during an interactive session with religious leaders organised by INEC for the North- East zone, the Bauchi State CAN Chairman, Revd Musa Tula, explained that the decision became necessary in order to ensure that Christians in Bauchi State were not left behind in the exercise, which he said was their civic rights and responsibility as well as the ability to be able to elect a candidate of their choice.

Tula added that CAN had since directed all pastors to start educating their members on the need to ensure that they participated in the exercise because according to him, “we are working and partnering with all relevant government electoral agencies in order to ensure a smooth registration exercise among the chris-tians in the state.”
