President Goodluck Jonathan, on Thursday, sent the name of Mr Ibrahim Lamorde to the Senate for confirmation as the substantive chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Lamorde was appointed in acting capacity following the sack of the former chairman, Mrs Farida Waziri.

President Jonathan, in a letter to the Senate President, David Mark, dated January 9, 2012, stated that “by virtue of Section 2(3) of the EFCC Act which confers upon the president the powers to appoint the chairman and members of the commission, other than ex-officio members, subject to confirmation by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I hereby request the Senate to kindly consider and confirm the appointment of Mr Ibrahim Lamorde as chairman of the commission.”
