Addressing the newsmen in Abuja, Okereke alleged that, though the EFCC offered him no reason for the invasion during the course of the action, EFCC operatives took away two of his aides, including one Mr. Victor and his personal secretary, Miss Vivian Okafor, who was only released at 10:pm on Tuesday, after about a week in the commission’s detention.
Okereke, who alleged that the EFCC operatives took away document and computers from his office, described the action of the agency as a direct affront on his person and his outfit.
According to Okereke, who was the National Chairman of now de-registered African Liberation Party (ALP), the action of the commission was gross violation of his right to own property and right to private life.
He, therefore, urged the Federal Government to call the agency to order in order not to give a wrong signal to the international community that Nigeria could not guarantee freedom to its citizens.
He said that the task force, which was validly registered at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), has been pursuing its set objectives of aggressively combating the infiltration of illegal arms, ammunition and illegal weapons into the country.
