There are strong indications that some top police officers at Lagos Police College in Ikeja, south-west Nigeria may soon be transferred out of the place. This follows the messy conditions Nigerian president, Dr Goodluck Jonathan met when he paid a surprise visit on Friday to the college on his way to a meeting of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in Cote d’Ivoire.
The meeting planned to hold on Saturday, January 19, provided an opportunity for the president to storm the police college unannounced, where he was said to be visibly angry with what he saw on ground.
However, police sources told our reporter on Saturday evening that since the president left the college, commandant of the college, Commissioner of Police Irimiya Yerima, has become reckless, restive and easily irritated.
According to our source, the commissioner is deeply afraid that the president may order his immediate transfer from the college, alongside some other top officers soon.
www.allvoices.com recalled that recently Channels Television, a private independent TV station owned by Tony Momoh aired the dilapidated conditions at the college, which was an embarrassment to the government.
