The Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero, who was attacked Saturday on his way back to his Palace after attending a Quranic recitation competition has been flown to London. A source at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, told PREMIUM TIMES that the emir travelled in a private jet which took off around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. The source said Mr. Bayero travelled along with his son, the Ciroman Kano, Sanusi Ado Bayero, who was hit by a bullet in the attack.
Also on the emirs entourage are his other guards who sustained injuries.
Our source also said the emir looked “Ok, because there is no sign of injury on him.”
However, PREMIUM TIMES learnt that Mr. Bayero may have received some injuries on his face and arms from glass shrapnel from the attack.
Meanwhile, reports from the Northern Nigeria city indicate that the police are looking beyond the insurgent group, Boko Haram, in their investigation of the attack.
At least four people were killed, including the emir’s driver and orderly, while several others were wounded in the attack.
Sources say some of the possible successors to the Kano Emir are also being investigated by the police, who have said they are investigating the attack.
The Ciroma is the emir’s eldest son and possible successor fuelling suspicion since he was also targeted in the Saturday attack.
