Tinubu, Shekarau meet APGA leaders over APC

THERE are indications that the former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and former Kano State governor, Ibrahin Shekarau, met the leadership of the All Progressive Grand Alliance for several hours on Thursday evening over the new opposition party, All Progressive Congress (APC).

The meeting, according to a reliable source, took place at Tinubu’s Bourdillon Avenue, Ikoyi Lagos, but it was not clear whether the former governor was the one who facilitated the rapprochement between APGA and APC.Saturday Tribune gathered that the former Kano State governor was pushing hard to get the two factions of APGA to support the merger into the APC, which was said to be the main reason for the Lagos meeting.

Five leaders of APGA reportedly attended the meeting, but it was not clear if Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State approved it.

The source told Saturday Tribune that the meeting was called to brief the APGA leadership on the detail of the proposed merger and to formally woo it into the new party.

Some APGA leaders from the Rochas Okorocha faction were also said to have attended the meeting.
