THE battle for the chairmanship of Nigeria‘s Governors‘ Forum has taken a new dimension with reports that the 10 governors of the All Progressives Congress have resolved to support the Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi for the top job. The APC governors who met last night in Abuja were originally billed to discuss the reports of their logo, manifesto and constitution committees but it was gathered that development within the governors’ forum was a major point of focus.
A source privy to the APC agenda on the forum told Nigerian Tribune that the APC governors forum will support Amaechi as a way of preventing the presidency from hijacking the forum.
The governors were however still at the meeting as of the time of filing this report. Nigerian Tribune learnt that since the infighting within the forum became public knowledge, APC governors have been wooing their PDP colleagues.
While there has been no sign of any PDP governor crossing over to APC,reports suggest that cross party collaboration to frustrate the presidency is the strategy of the APC
