Jonathan Urges Nigerians To Join In Nation Building
President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday in Abuja urged Nigerians to join hands to build a better country. The president made the call at the launch and Public Presentation of 15 books written by a lawyer, Mr Job Dangana. Jonathan, represented by Mrs Sarah Pane, the Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties and Social Development Matters, stressed that ``Nigeria is ours to collectively build.’’``Join hands with me in this great task of nation building. Nobody is too small or too big, neither is anybody too young or too old.``Everybody has something to contribute even if it is just positive thinking and confession that it is well and will be well with Nigeria,’’ he said.
Jonathan stressed his commitment to building a greater nation, adding that his administration would continue to make steady progress in all sectors of the economy.
He assured that by the end of his tenure ``the administration will have every cause to say that our stewardship has translated into greater strides for Nigeria.’’
He noted that education was a God-given instrument and important in the hands of man, adding, ``good education makes a human being truly complete.’’
Jonathan commended the author on his efforts and commitment to ensure that the books were published, saying that they would help to transform the nation.
The president advised MDAs, states and local governments to use the books as reference materials, saying they re-echoed the administration`s goals in the transformation agenda.
Mrs Sarah Jibril, the Special Adviser to President on Ethics and Value, said that it was ethical to recognise the importance of reading in the life of individuals.
Jibril called on Nigerians to imbibe the culture of reading for rapid education and development, adding that reading would bring about transformation of life and the society as well.
She said that the author had done something that would enhance the nation`s development efforts.
The author, Dangana, said that the books were products of revelation.
He said that the challenge he faced was in sourcing funds for public presentation of the books.
The author said that the books were part of his contributions to nation building and promised to make more positive contributions to the lives of men and women in the country.
``Anybody that is not making positive contributions to nation building and the enhancement of the lives of the people is living a barren and worthless life that is not pleasing to God,’’ he said.
Dangana urged government to pay the medical bills of indigent Nigerians.
He also said that government should establish education fund to pay the school fees and upkeep of young Nigerians who wished to acquire education but lacked the financial wherewithal.
``Loyalty comes naturally from the citizens when they see that they cannot be abandoned in their hour of need,’’ he said.
