Participants at the ongoing American Conference on the Treatment of HIV in Denver, Colorado state of America have scored the Nigerian government low in the global efforts at treating HIV.
The President Goodluck Jonathan-led administration was however commended for its ability to ensure that HIV/AIDS is reduced in the country.
Speakers and health experts while addressing the participants stated that the efforts of the Nigerian government and some of its counterparts in Africa in the global fight against the deadly disease were below expectation.
They noted that the Nigerian government was trying to eradicate HIV/AIDS but added that there was a need to give it a more proactive approach as done in Europe and US.
Meanwhile, Dr. Edward Gadner, MD, Denver Public Health Department in his speech hailed President Jonathan’s government for its urgent and timely response to issues of health care in the country, stressing that the administration has done creditably well in the area of taking health care to the grassroots.
The health experts then urged President Goodluck Jonathan and his counterparts on the African continent to do more to achieving a desired result in the area of treating the deadly disease.
