Terrorism won’t divide Nigeria – Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan has assured that despite the spate of terror attacks in the country, the nation would remain united and stronger, saying that his government was committed to the fight against terrorism. Speaking during the Easter service at Our Saviour’s Church, Anglican Communion, Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, President Jonathan said his administration was working very hard to make sure that terrorism did not divide the country.
The president also gave the assurance that power outages being experienced in the country now would soon be a thing of the past beginning from 2014 as his administration was making efforts to reverse the situation.

He said that the process of the privatising the power sector would soon be completed to ensure total reform of the sector in order to guarantee stable power supply.

According to him, the country would only witness rapid progress and development when the people remain united, focused and determined.

He also observed that the resultant effects of the spate of terrorist attacks in the country could have been more devastating but for the fervent prayers of Nigerians.

Jonathan, therefore, enjoined Christians not to relent in praying for the country, noting that Christ came to the world at a critical time of human existence and yet changed the world by preaching peace, unity and love, virtues he urged Christians and all Nigerians to imbibe.

Earlier in his sermon, the Vicar, Igein Isemede, had reflected on the death and resurrection of Christ and urged all Christians to purge their hearts of any wrongdoing as the death and resurrection of their Saviour had made the necessary atonement for them.
