Oxford Dictionary To Add Some Nigerian Words Into Their 2013 Edition.

By @Obafreshlord

The authoritative and arguably the most popular dictionary,The Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary has recognised Nigeria and has decided to include in their new editions,some popular words used in Nigeria which some other African companies have been adapting in their sentences too.

According to the publishing company of the dictionary,they said some of the words that will be added include;

- Wahala – To be problematic,stressful,to bring trouble. I don’t want wahala.
- Tey – A while,a long time. Its been tey I heard from her.
- Shebi – Its used in sentences to ask questions in a way to ask for confirmation. Shebi I told you to come?
- Shayo – To drink a lot of alcohol. Let’s Shayo and get wasted.
We were told Oxford dictionary is planning to add other Nigerian words into their 2014 Edition and FNN has been told to gather up those words,so that research can be done on them and be included.
