Policeman, two teenagers killed in Bauchi attack

A mobile Policeman and two teenagers have been killed while a female hawker sustained injuries when gunmen attacked a bank and a police station, yesterday, in Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

Police Public Relations Officer ASP Hassan Mohammed, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Bauchi, saying: “The gunmen stormed the town around 9 pm and attacked the Darazo Divisional Police Station and FirstBank, but the police repelled the robbery and burning of the Police station.

He said: “There was a fight between the attackers and our men, but while we were exchanging fire with the hoodlums, a mobile Policeman was killed as stray bullets hit three young female hawkers. Two of them died in the hospital while the third is currently receiving treatment.”

He said the hoodlums fled after the attack, adding that the Police have commenced investigation into the incident, but no arrest has been made.

On his part, Chairman, Caretaker Committee Darazo Local Government Alhaji Kabiru Sade, said normalcy had been restored and the situation was under control and advised people to go about their normal businesses.
