The beer has been created by a team of researchers in Australia who say it prevents drinkers from becoming dehydrated. They have added electrolytes - an ingredient in sports drinks - which helps to keep them refreshed.
However, inevitably, some may feel there is a downside to the new drink. In order to create it, they have had to reduce the alcohol content.
As reported by the Huffington Post, Ben Desbrow, an associate professor at Griffith University's Health Institute, who led the study, said:
'Of the four different beers the subjects consumed, our augmented light beer was by far the most well retained by the body, meaning it was the most effective at rehydrating the subjects.'
A team from the university modified the ingredients in four different beers.
Two of them were commercial, one was of average alcohol content and the other was extremely light.
Researchers discovered that when they altered the light beer by adding electrolytes, it was a third more effective at hydrating drinkers than normal beers.
The team also said that despite adding the electrolytes, it did not effect the taste of the drinks.
Electrolytes are minerals in the body and compounds that bind to them to create salts, such as sodium.
During dehydration the body loses electrolytes, which explains why we can feel so terrible when we have spent the previous evening drinking.
Hangovers are caused by several factors but dehydration is known to be one of the biggest causes
