Guard & 2 OTHERS Remanded in Prison for ROBBING Boss


A security man, Monday Abdul,28, and two others, were Thursday , remanded in prison by a Lagos Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ikeja, over alleged robbery, pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution.

The trio: Abdul,Mohammed Dungus,24and Mohammed Isah,19 faced a two-count charge of conspiracy and armed robbery preferred against them by the police.

The Police prosecutor, Inspector Roman Unuigbe, told the court that the defendants and others at large, committed the alleged crime on August 18, 2013, at about 11pm, at Unity Avenue, Ado road in Ajah area of Lagos.

The defendants according to him, were armed with pump action guns and cutlasses and robbed one Mr Thompson Shebi, dispossessing him of his wife’s jewelries and a box valued N1.5million, including a wrist watch , valued N1.5million.

Other items allegedly dispossessed from Shebi, were computer gadgets,one IPad phone valued at N350,000 and a cash of N500,000.

Abdul,a security guard to Shebi, allegedly connived with others to rob his boss. He was said to have informed them to strike on a day his boss was supposed to travel. Unknown to him, his boss had postponed the journey. But the robbers reportedly stormed the building that fateful day where they reportedly operated unmolested.

The offense committed according to the prosecutor, contravened section 2 (a) and punishable under section 3 (1) of the robbery and firearms (Special Provision) Act, Cap 398, Vol XXii, laws of the Federation of Nigeria 1990, as amended.

However, when the charge was read to the defendants, they pleaded not guilty. But their plea was not taken as

Magistrate Hamzat, ordered that they should be remanded in prison custody, pending the legal advice from DPP and the case adjourned to October 10, 2013, for mention.
