Gunmen KILL Vigilante And Friend In Delta State


WARRI— Four gunmen, yesterday, killed the chairman of a vigilance group in Agbassa, Warri, Delta State and his friend.

Criminals in Agbassa area reportedly resolved to eliminate him as he was an obstacle to their operations in the area. Vanguard gathered that the deceased was walking along Ginuwa Road, off Warri-Sapele Road, Warri, with a friend when the gunmen attacked them.


While his friend died on the spot, the vigilance group head died in hospital.

Residents ran for safety, while shop owners closed business for the day.

A source said: “The vigilance group member was the target.

“He had foiled many robbery operations in the area and also gave information that led to the arrest of a number of bad boys in the area.”

Robbers kill policeman in Owerri

Armed robbers, Sunday morning in Owerri, Imo State capital, killed a Policeman wearing mufti.

The suspected robbers invaded Icefish Market along Uratta by Erekwerenwa Street, raided one of the cold-rooms belonging to one Madam White to rob fish dealers.

According to an eyewitness, the robbers did not know of the presence of some armed policemen in the market, who took on the invaders.

A shootout ensued between the police and the suspects, while traders ran for safety.

During the gunfight, a policeman was killed, his body riddled with bullets.

The body, it was gathered, has since been removed by the police authorities.
