A 34-year-old man who allegedly raped a 13-year-old girl to death at Eyio Ekiti; Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti State has been arrested.
Police spokesman, Mr Victor Babayemi, said that the suspect had been arrested and presently in custody. The suspect, Mr. Sunday, a labourer, is from Cross Rivers State. He reportedly tricked the girl into a Cocoa plantation and raped her to death.

The suspect is presently being detained at the Police headquarters in Ado Ekiti, while the body of the girl had been deposited at the mortuary of Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital.
A reliable source in the community, told journalists that both Sunday and the parents of the girl, were labourers, working for a farmer, who owns a big plantation in the community.
The source added that the town searched for the girl for three days before her decomposing body was found in a remote side of a cocoa plantation.
The source added that while the suspect was in charge of Cocoa Plantation, the victim’s parents were in charge of palm tree plantation, making the two families to be co-workers and interacted often.
It was gathered that barely hours after the parents of the girl left for farm on the fateful of the incident, Sunday had tricked the girl to the far side of the cocoa plantation and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.
The source, who said the girl did not just died of excessive bleeding, added that Sunday apparently covered the victim’s mouth with a wrapper, thereby suffocating her to death.
The source added: “When the parents of the girl could not find their child till 8pm on Monday, the second day, the Eyio-in-Council held a meeting and insisted that the girl must be found at all costs. Members of the Odua People’s Congress (OPC) mobilized into the bushes and started combing everywhere.
“But when they could not find her, they contacted the Police. The Police now joined the search party. When police got to certain area in the farm, they perceived a stench and followed the smell. They traced the spot and found her lifeless body. There were thick bloods from her private part.”
He said Sunday was immediately arrested by the OPC being the only person in the farm that day.
According to the source, upon interrogation, Sunday confessed to the crime, before being handed over to the Police.
