Police Beat Black Deaf Man To Near Death For Not Following Orders During Traffic Stop

A man was beaten to near death for not following police orders during a traffic stop, despite the fact that he is deaf and couldn’t hear anything, according to police reports in Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said that they took two officers off the street after being accused of using excessive force against a deaf man in Oklahoma City.

64-year-old Pearl Pearson is recovering from his injuries after a violent confrontation with two Highway Patrol officers during a traffic stop.

"Pearson stopped and rolled down the window, waiting for an officer to ask for his identification," a source close to Pearson said.

"An officer hit him in the face before Pearson had a chance to do anything. As you can see, he was hit several times," the source said.

Pearson, who is deaf and diabetic, has a sign on the driver's side door that reads: "Driver is deaf." His driver’s license also indicates that he is deaf.

Pearson was arrested at the scene and ultimately charged with resisting arrest and leaving the scene of an accident.
