AGAIN: Boko Haram Attacks Two Villages in Borno

Suspected Boko Haram sects yesterday invaded Mairari village of Konduga Local Government Area of Borno state, killing about 2 residents after setting many houses, shops and vehicles ablaze.

Also, another set of terrorists revisited Izge village of Gwoza local government area and razed the entire village into ashes. Izge town was attacked early this month when the terrorists ambushed a military posts and killed nine soldiers at the spot.

Also, last Saturday 15th February, another terrorists invaded the village killing over 150 residents with the displacement of over 10,000 residents who are currently taking refuge in Madagali, the headquarters of Gulak Council Area of Adamawa state.

After the attack in Izge, many people of the area fled and left only few including old aged men/women and under aged children, but the terrorists sect regrouped again on Sunday morning where they set the entire village ablaze.

A source told our Correspondent that “suspected members of Boko haram revisited Izge village on Sunday morning at about 2am where they destroyed the remaining standing structures. The village is completely razed into ashes”. He stated.

The fresh attack in Mairari village of Konduga our correspondent gathered took place on Sunday at about 12pm when some group of suspected Boko Haram terrorists laid ambush and killed two residents before setting over 10 houses ablaze.

Mairari is a village located between Maiduguri and Konduga Council Area. It is about 30 kilometres drive from Maiduguri and 15 kilometres away to Konduga which was also sacked by terrorists three weeks ago.

A reliable security source who did not want his name mentioned, said, “Mairari village was attacked yesterday Sunday where two people were killed and house including shops and vehicles were set ablaze.

Meanwhile, the Commanding Officer of the 202 Battalion (Kur Mohammed Barracks) in Bama council area of Borno state, Lt. Colonel Adamu Laka yesterday commended Governor Kashim Shettima for assisting the families of deceased officers and men affected in the ongoing Boko Haram crisis, which according to him, the gesture has helped the families of the deceased in no small measures in reducing their economic hardship.

Laka made the commendation yesterday when governor Shettima visited Bama to sympathize with the victims of the fresh Boko Haram attack last Wednesday which had claimed over 100 lives and property worth billions of naira destroyed.

It would be recalled that some terrorists invaded Bama on Wednesday where they wrecked harvoc killing over 100 residents, burnt down over 200 houses, 400 vehicles, two churches of Living Faith, Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), Shehu’s palace as well as the displacement of 2000 residents. Also in the attack, over 70 of the terrorists lost their lives.

Laka however assured the government and people of Bama of the Battalion’s commitment to ensure the protection of lives and property, adding that, what happened in Bama is very unfortunate, and therefore promised that the security agencies will continue to their best to tackle terrorism act not only in Bama, but the country at large.

Governor Shettima who took time and went found the affected areas such as the state low-cost estate, Shehu’s palace and others that were completely razed down by the insurgents sympathized with the people of the council over the unfortunate incident pleaded with them not to flee their communities.

He prayed Allah (God) to grant internal rest for those who lost their lives in the attack and condoled wit the families of the deceased and those who sustained injuries.

Shettima who had earlier released the sum of N100 million as parliative measures to the victims announced the donation of additional N200 million in order to cushion the hardship faced by those directly affected during the attack.

He also donated three new brand Toyota Hilux vehicles for the vigilante youth, popularly and addressed as civilian JTF in assisting them in their quest of fighting Boko Haram in the council.

Shettima also stopped over on his way to Maiduguri from Bama and condoled the families of those who lost their beloved ones over the incident, and sympathized with others who equally lost their houses
