#BringBackOurGirls: Nigerians in UK hold intercessory prayers

A cross section of Nigerians in the UK on Sunday held a prayer session for Nigeria and President Goodluck Jonathan as part of their spiritual contributions to end attacks by insurgents.

The intercessory prayer came against the backdrop of the abduction of about 240 school girls in Chibok, Borno, Nigeria.

The prayer session, which was held at the Fathers House International Church London, was organised by the UK Chapter of Goodluck Support Group (GSG).

Pastors from various Christian denominations took turns to pray for the release of the girls and the unity of Nigeria.

They also prayed for the support of the U.S, UK and France to tackle the terrorism.

Pastor Wale Oladimeji of the Guilding Light Assembly, said that “the situation in Nigeria is not above what God can do.”

“We are here, as men of God and concerned Nigerians, to seek for God’s mercy for us as a nation to overcome the force of darkness that has bedeviled our nation.”

Similarly, Pastor Rex Chosen of the Fathers House Assembly said: “when two or three are gathered in the name of God, He shall answer them”.

“We are here to pray for protection of the school girls and their families and also commit our nation to God.

“Our diversity as a nation is not by mistake; God will move mightily and this cup shall pass over us,” Chosen said.

Chief Austin Ajearo, Coordinator of the GSG, said the prayer became necessary in view of the spate of attacks targeted to discredit the Jonathan administration.

Ajearo, who described the group as a non-political movement, said friends of President Goodluck Jonathan established the group to support him.

He said that “this started since when he was deputy governor in Bayelsa State”.

According to him, the nation’s security challenges have political undertone “as the opposition has vowed to distabilise this government.”

“God will take control of Nigeria’s security and political situation, especially as Nigerians are united against these acts of terror”.

He commended the international community for its assistance to Nigeria to overcome terrorism, adding that the U.S and UK stood should-to- shoulder in the fight against terrorism.

Ajearo also said that Nigeria needed strong strategic partnership with Chad, Cameroon and Niger Republic to overcome the insurgents.

The Europe Correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that participants at the prayer session vowed to continue to intercede in prayers for Nigeria until the schoolgirls were released (NAN)
