A team of Google engineers have banded together to give the people what they really needed: a website to help people find unpirated, virus-free porn without selling the users' information to advertisers [via Salon].
It's called Boodigo, and according to co-founder Colin Rowntree, porn searches on it won't show up in users' other search engine histories or in their sidebar ads. But mostly, the site could be a real threat to the problem of porn piracy.
Rowntree, a porn producer and director, has experienced the effects of porn piracy firsthand and knows how damaging it can be. "It's horrible for the performers, for the studios, for everybody," he said. Though he adds that trying to stop people from pirating porn will "always be a cat and mouse game," he believes Boodigo has "done a very good job at identifying the illegal tube sites. They're basically just blacklisted from ever getting into the search results."So more money stays in the hands of performers, evidence that you're looking at porn stays off your web browser, and you won't get as many creepy targeted ads in your sidebar? I want to go to there.
