JAMB - We Didn't Cancel Exams Centres in Crisis States

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has denied reports indicating that it will cancel some centres in crisis-prone states for the forthcoming Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).In a statement made available to Daily Trust by the Board's spokesman, Mr. Timothy Oyedeji, the Registrar of the board, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde said if the recent bombing of schools by Boko Haram would lead to the cancellation or relocation of UTME centres in such states the board would take actions if it affects tertiary institutions.

"It is unfortunate that we are experiencing this development in the north east. I can assure you that the problem is isolated to primary schools. However, God forbid, if we have such problem in tertiary institutions, the board will be forced to take some remedial actions," he said.

"Obviously, with level of security concerns and efforts of government, such situation will not arise," he said.

The statement stated that the board has dissociated itself from the 'false and alarming' publications, though saying that it has approved the cancellation of some centres.
